Model 29 reborn.

Hi guys and Dan, I have been lurking here periodically, so thought I would share this story. I bought this S&W 29 in the early 80s. Standard Dirty Harry model. I made some grips for it that fit my hand much better than the issue target (?) stocks. The gun saw a lot of rounds, both really hot to ...

Re: Model 29 reborn.

Yes, ejection is easy, they almost drop out. I'll have to check but I think the chambers are tight as well. I am also playing with a .357, Model 27 with a 5" barrel. 185 grain MM mold, long nose, 70%, .120" front band. This shoots great as well, and again best accuracy seems to be just und...

rcbs pro melt

Hi guys, Back in the early 80s I got a ProMelt from a sympathetic girlfriend. I was deep into the IPSC game and commercial castors just did not exist. With 3 double cavity rcbs molds for a copy of the H&G 68 I cast bullets all winter from whatever I could find in the way of lead, mostly ww. I ca...

Re: rcbs pro melt

On the marvelux thing, here in Alberta it is very dry humidity wise, can't say I noticed any corrosion, but I don't doubt that the marvelux residue would attract moisture. I guess I like it cause it doesn't smoke or smell, like you said all the other stuff does. The oriface on my ProMelt seems to be...

Some thoughts on lube

You would think that after all the decades of cast bullet shooting that everything about lubing cast bullets would be known. I have been reading this forum, the CBA forum, and the Beartooth forum. All I can say is nothing seems very straight forward as to what works best. It would seem that after re...

Re: Some thoughts on lube

Thanks Dan, and by that you mean magnums, 1200 fps and up in all the popular stuff. Are you still experimenting with mica and that other stuff just for fun?

.444/300gr Fryxell

This past weekend I tried out my mold of the 300gr Fryxell design. Love it. My Marlin is a real old one, micro grooved barrel, which I lapped and also bedded the forestock. I used my 6.5 x 20 Leupold for testing at 100 yds.

Re: .444/300gr Fryxell

Yeah, I'm quite pleased. I'm going to see what they do at 200 and maybe 300 yds on the weekend.

no standard Lyman/rcbs sizing dies.

Where can I get sizing dies that are not stocked by Lyman/rcbs? I'm looking for .460, .411, .359". thanks.
