Re: Cast Bullet Velocity Parameters

There's an interesting discussion of cast bullet hardness versus pressure in Richard Lee's "Modern Reloading - Second Edition". Among other things, he presents a systematic procedure for determining the maximum pressure that should be used with a given alloy hardness, and a way of approxim...

Re: New server, missing data

That's really too bad. I found myself rereading old threads quite a bit. I hope you can find a way to recover them without having to do it manually; that's an awful lot of work.

Try searching for "Garand" on these lists: CB-L: http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/CB-L/?yguid=193867856 CBA Forum: http://www.castbulletassoc.org/forum/index.php Cast Boolits: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/ There are probably others that would be useful, but I know that the subject o...

Re: Ladles

I like the Rowell ladles much better than anything else I've used. The pouring spout takes the metal from the bottom of the bowl sort of like a kitchen grease separator, so if there's junk floating on the top of the full ladle it won't get in the mold. Bill Ferguson sells them on his web site: http:...

Re: lube grooves

For what it's worth, the SAAMI length specifications for .45 Long Colt are: Loaded cartridge maximum overall length: 1.600 inches Empty case length: 1.285 inches That implies that the crimp-to-nose length should be a maximum of 0.315 inches. I have no idea if that has any relationship to the realiti...

Re: 425 Westley Richards question

It might be interesting to try the CFVentures soft gas checks: http://www.caversham16.freeserve.co.uk/ . They work quite well in many applications. There's a link off of that web page to email the guy who makes these with questions about how you want to use them. My experience with him was that he w...

... and if money permits, a cistern. Are you planning on building this yourself? If so, it might be worth talking a bit to the people at Ames Research Laboratories ( http://www.amesresearch.com/ . They have a couple of videos on YouTube ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVUmh9uEer4 and http://www.yo...

Re: Woodshed and Alaskan Mill

I was thinking of something around 2500-3000 gallon. Plastic ones of that capacity are pretty big - something like 4 x 8 x 12 feet and a thousand pounds or so. But if you're thinking of one you could haul in your pickup, then it's maybe 25% that size (at least that's as big as *I* would try to haul ...

Re: Marlin .460 410grs

Danny.k, I meant to ask when you posted the boar picture.... Are the boars in Sweden true wild boars, wild boars imported for hunting, or feral domestic pigs? I ask because I didn't think the Eurasian wild boar naturally ranged into Sweden/Norway/Finland. Very nearly all wild pigs in the US are (des...
