I’m designing a cast bullet to replace a 240 gr .30 cal BTHP for a Whisper .300. I know that most cast folks are big fans of large meplats for stopping power but I’m after low drag for varmints.
1. What is the minimum meplat that MM can make a mold for?
2. Since this is subsonic I don’t plan to use a gas check, any recommendations for the length of the base?
3. Right now I shoot Lee die .40 S&W bullets that are tumble lubed (have numerous small round bottom grooves). How would this style of lube groove work for the whisper bullet? IOW… are more shallow grooves better than fewer deeper ones and what are the tradeoffs?
