40 Cal SWC? with no groves?

Postby number1armorer » Mon Feb 11, 2013 11:16 am

I am going to start making casted bullets and later plate them. Can you make a mold that is .004 smaller than .401. Which translates to .397 to accomidate for room for the plating. But when i plate i dont need the lube groves so a sold mold will be needed. I would like to get it around 150 grains so my end result will be a little heavier. let me know your thoughts.

In theory, that would be simple to make, however, my online design software is simply not designed to create grooveless bullets.

If you want to come up with a design, using the online program, and then ask me to make the same design except without the grooves, then I'd be willing to do that. Of course the bullet will be heavier than the design spec.
