Some RCBS mold handles don't fit some molds

Post by mtngun » Mon Jul 15, 2019 8:14 pm

The standard and the XL blocks were designed specifically for my mid 80's vintage RCBS mold handles (though some other handles also work). But ... customer Ron let me know that his early 90's vintage RCBS handles do not fit the XL blocks. Ron's RCBS handles have a "step" on the forks. The steps serve no logical purpose but there they are.

The good news is that it only takes 5 minutes with a bench grinder to knock down those steps.

My 80's RCBS handles came from the factory with flat forks.

I feel bad because all these years I have been telling customers that RCBS handles fit my blocks, but darn it, I have no control over RCBS, and if RCBS decides to change their handle specifications, I can't stop them. :x

Taken from the RCBS website today, showing flat forks with no step. But ... I have no control over RCBS quality control, so buyer beware. They're rugged handles, better made than the Lee handles, but just be aware that you may have to do some grinding.
