460 S&W target loads

I am very new to bullet casting and wanted a mold that i can use for my 460. The bullet diameter i have been finding works best is the .452 and can also be shot as a 45 colt. Any suggestions on where to start? I do want to use gas checks.

Well, you have already got the important thing down -- the diameter it likes best.

Beyond that, you are limited only by your imagination and by what the design program will let you do.

I have no personal experience with the 460 so I have no personal pet loads to share. I presume it follows the same rules as any other magnum revolver. A bore riding nose similar to the John Ross 700 gr 500 S&W design might be an option, though I"m not sure that there is any advantage to it other than more powder capacity if you are into full throttle loads.

Thanks for your reply, ill start working on a mold today. Any suggestions on mold composition? Steel, brass or alum?

Depends on the weight but when in doubt stick with aluminum.
